The activities of our group started in 2015 when Dr. B. Szyja returned to his Alma Mater after his Dutch episode (Post-Doc at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven). The whole group consisted of one member, but soon enough Ela Dziadyk decided to do her Master's Thesis and stayed with us as a PhD student to this date. Rafał Stottko joined as a tutee (Masters of Didactics programme) and Bachelor's student in 2021. And that's it. Currently, our group consists of these 3 members. We are small but ambitious.

In the past, we've had more members - Agata Podsiadły-Paszkowska was a Post-Doc from 2018 to 2021; Kinga Szkaradek was employed within the OPUS project from 2017 to 2018; Joasia Zasada started her PhD in 2019, but left due to some unforeseen circumstances. There were quite a few Master students.

We are theoreticians, researching the topic of zero-emission fuels in a broad sense:

  • closing the carbon cycle by CO2 hydrogenation
  • photo- and/or electrocatalytic water splitting
  • efficient methanol utilization in direct methanol fuel cells

All these require a smart design of catalytic materials, which is the core of our investigations
